Accessibility statement

Little Wordsmiths is an education product, and we want every child and grown-up to be able to use it. We are working toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. We have not had an independent accessibility audit, and we do not claim that the website or the app conforms yet.

What we do

• On this website: our own automated checks look at text contrast, image descriptions, page structure and layout on phones, tablets and computers.
• On this website: a skip-to-content link, visible focus outlines, headings in order, labels on buttons and controls, and text that scales with your browser settings.
• On this website: animation stops when your device asks for reduced motion, and the home page has a button to pause its decorative animation.
• Audio pronunciation of words, which supports pre-readers and different ways of learning.
• In the app: right-to-left layouts for Arabic, Urdu, Persian and Hebrew, and every answer in "Do you remember?" can be heard.

Ongoing work

This website was rebuilt in October 2026 and has been checked by our own tests and by hand, not by an independent audit. Some parts are known to need work: the writing-practice demo on the home page needs a mouse, finger or stylus, and we are still improving screen-reader labelling, support for larger text and reduced motion in the app, and the order in which controls are reached. If something is hard to use, we want to hear about it and fix it.

Standards

We are working toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We have not measured conformance across every page and screen, and no independent audit has been done, so we make no claim that the website or the app meets the standard today. We will say so here when that changes.
