Cookie Policy

Last updated: October 17, 2026

This policy explains how cookies and similar technologies are used on the Little Wordsmiths website.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by a website. Similar technologies include local storage and pixels. They can be "strictly necessary" (needed to run the site) or optional (analytics, preferences, advertising).

What this site uses today

• Strictly necessary only. As built, the marketing pages of this website (the home page, For Parents, Partners, Support and the legal pages) do not set any cookies, do not set advertising cookies and do not run third-party ad trackers.
• Sign-in areas: if you sign in to the parent, school or staff portals, they set a first-party session cookie that is strictly necessary to keep you signed in. The web dictionary may keep small pieces of data in your browser for the same purpose. None of this is used for advertising.
• Choices you make on a page: if you pick an English spelling (American, Canadian or British) or pause the animations, that choice is kept in your browser's local storage on this device, so the next page follows it. It is not a cookie, it is never sent to us, and clearing this site's data in your browser removes it. Until you pick, the spelling follows your browser's language or time zone, and nothing is stored.
• Fonts are self-hosted, so loading the page does not send your data to a third-party font service.
• Analytics: none. This website does not use third-party analytics cookies.

If we add optional cookies

If we introduce analytics or other non-essential cookies, we will, where the law requires (for example in the UK and EU under the ePrivacy rules and GDPR): show a consent banner before setting them, let you accept or reject, and let you change your choice at any time. We will never use advertising cookies that target children.

Managing cookies

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect how the site works.
