Delete your account

Last updated: October 16, 2026

You can ask us to delete your Little Wordsmiths account and erase your data at any time, and you do not need to give a reason. There are three ways to do it. All of them lead to the same place, so pick whichever is easiest for you.

1. Delete it here, on this page

Sign in with the email and password on the account. We ask for the password so that nobody else can delete your child's progress by guessing your email address.

This form switches on when the page has finished loading. If it stays greyed out, use one of the other two ways below.

Forgotten your password? Use the email route below instead.

2. Or delete it in the app

If you have Little Wordsmiths installed, this does the same thing.

  1. Open the app and open Grown-ups. It opens with a short question or your PIN.
  2. Tap Account and plan.
  3. Scroll to the Account heading at the bottom and tap Delete Account and Local Progress Data.
  4. The app asks Delete account? Confirm with Delete. Your account then closes, and is deleted for good after 14 days unless you sign in again before then and choose Keep my account.

Your request is lodged straight away and you are signed out. Everything saved on the device itself is cleared at the same time.

You can also do it from the parent portal, under Account & privacy, where Download my data also lives.

3. If you cannot sign in

If you have forgotten your password or no longer have access to the account, write to hello@littlewordsmiths.com from the email address on the account and tell us you want it deleted. We will check that the request is really yours before we act on it, which protects you from someone else deleting your child's progress.

4. What gets deleted

Your access ends as soon as the request is lodged. After 14 days an automatic process deletes the account for good. For your account, that process:

After this runs, we no longer hold information that identifies you.

5. Children's profiles

Your access ends the moment you ask, so nobody can sign in with your account to reach a child's information. When your account is deleted after the 14 days, each child profile where you are the only guardian is made anonymous: the child's learning activity (answers right or wrong, words, trail days and quiz scores) is copied into research records that cannot identify your child, and the child's profile, guardian links, classes, class-sharing agreements, devices and drawings are erased. A child who also has another guardian stays with that guardian, and is not deleted.

The research records keep only the child's birth year, the app language, the country and the grade level, under a random code that nothing links back to your child. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what they keep.

You can also delete a single child without closing your whole account. Only a guardian with permission to manage settings can do this. That child is kept for a 30 day safety window, so a mistake can be put right, and is then made anonymous the same way. Leaving a class is separate: it stops sharing with the teacher and school at once, and does not delete your child's learning activity.

6. If you never made an account

Little Wordsmiths can be used in guest mode without signing up. In guest mode a child's learning activity is stored only on the device and is not sent to us, so there is nothing on our side to delete. Anonymous counters that say a screen was opened do reach us, but they carry no account, child or device identifier. Removing the app from the device removes the activity.

7. What we keep, and why

We may keep a small amount of information where the law requires it, for example basic records of payments for tax and accounting purposes. Anything we keep for that reason is kept only for as long as the law requires and is not used to contact you or to build a profile of you. We do not sell or share personal information.

We also keep children's learning activity in research records that cannot identify a child, as described above, and use them only to improve Little Wordsmiths.

For the full picture, see our Privacy Policy.
